During this workshop, we addressed one of the most under-discussed, yet perhaps most influential, decisions in sensory and consumer science. One that happens before a study even begins: Which products should we test?

Product selection shapes the conclusions we can draw from a sensory study. It defines the product space we investigate, the consumer experiences we capture, and ultimately, the relevance of our findings to real-world product development.

We brought together an outstanding lineup of speakers from industry and academia who explored, through concrete examples, how to:

  • Define the right product space for a given research question
  • Make strategic and consumer-relevant product choices
  • Use experimental design and sensory-informed approaches to guide product selection
  • Connect product selection with modeling and predictive approaches, and understand how they inform one another

A big thank-you to all our speakers and participants for making this workshop such an engaging and thought-provoking event!
